← Pinnn Blog

AI knows your name. It does not give out your link.

Recognizing a name and linking to an official page turned out to be two different jobs. Across 18,465 answers: how often only the name appeared, how the gap survived narrower questions, and which third-party pages took the empty seat.

It knew the name and gave no link

We asked Google AI Mode, in Korean, "who is yprince77?" The answer described what 임정수PD does and even printed the word pinnn at the end, but that word was plain text and could not be clicked. The exact pinnn.me/@yprince77 address was missing, and so was any Pinnn source chip. What the answer attached instead were a Naver blog, Namuwiki, a news outlet and YouTube.

English reading guide (original Korean evidence): Question: Who is yprince77? The answer describes a travel creator and lists a Naver blog and social presence. “pinnn” appears as plain text in the answer: no exact pinnn.me/@yprince77 link or Pinnn source chip is shown. The screenshot alone does not establish the AI provider.

One answer in two did this

Between 19 July and 2 September 2026 we collected 18,465 answers from ChatGPT Search, the Gemini app, Google AI Mode and Naver AI Search. In 51.8% of them the answer gave the name or the handle and never the exact pinnn.me/@handle address. Only 6.5% carried the address itself.

Splitting by engine points the same way. Mentions without a link ran 62.1% on Naver AI, 61.1% on Google AI Mode, 48.1% on the Gemini app and 36.0% on ChatGPT. Martinez's survey of GEO research also keeps discovery, mention and citation as separate metrics. Observing that an AI knows your name does not mean it cites your official source.

Narrowing the question did not bring the link

Even for questions that asked outright for a source, like "tell me the official channels and profile", mentions without a link were 76.1% and exact citations 10.4%. For "who is ○○" it was 62.6% against 7.1%, and for "how do I send a collaboration inquiry" 62.7% against 5.6%. For a broad question like "recommend me some ○○ YouTubers" the mention itself dropped to 9.1% and exact citation to 2.2%.

Other pages took the seat

Google AI Mode attaches a bulk of generic links, Google help pages among them, to every answer, so we left it out of the source ranking. Counting how often each URL appeared in the creator questions on the remaining three engines: Namuwiki 1,201, vling 817, Wikipedia 344, 튜브몬 198, 랭크튜브 151. The last two are Korean-language sites and keep their Korean names here.

Chart data (English, same values as the Korean original): The five clues of an official profile: 1) canonical address and display name @yprince77, 2) ownership-verified channels via sameAs, 3) aliases via alternateName, 4) ProfilePage and Person declared separately, 5) a standalone /@yprince77/index.md. Clues 1-2 are visible on screen; 3-5 are read from HTML and the separate path. The left pane is an illustrative English schematic based on the Korean original Pinpage of @yprince77, not a live product screenshot.

  • Fix one canonical address and one display name.

  • Connect only ownership-verified channels as sameAs official channels.

  • Write the display name and the handle variants down as aliases.

  • State through ProfilePage and Person that this page is a profile and its subject is a person.

  • Serve the same core information once more as a machine-readable /@handle/index.md.

sameAs is the slot that tells a machine which other official pages the same person runs.

Put your own name into ChatGPT now and ask it for your official channels. If no link comes back, make a profile at pinnn.me and verify your channels before you connect them.

Method and limits

The sample is made of questions about creators registered on Pinnn, and the numbers are tied to the period, the questions and the state of each engine, so the same question repeated gives a different answer. This does not guarantee an AI citation, though it does give you one reference point for what counts as official information. The measurement design and the per-engine results are in part two, on the 3,909 official-channel questions.
